Mirlift, Morocco - Where to stay
I came across Mirlift after I was invited to attend by cousins wedding in Morocco. My first trip to North Africa was definitely exciting, particularly because i had no idea what to expect.
We arrived late into Agadir airport to be greeted by two locals. Once on the road to Mirlift, the music came on and it was then that I realised that Moroccan's like any form of English, just to a reggae beat! Image Adele's someone like you mixed with a slightly drumming... Its an experience i assure you.
Finally (two hours later) we arrived in the small town of Mirlift to our first hotel of the week. The Dar Najmat was not only beautiful and oozing with Moroccan culture, but was also peaceful, right by the beach and the staff were extremely helpful.
Breakfast was included - a selection of Moroccan treats as well as eggs, toast and condiments if you wanted. Taxis are easy to arrange, however everything you would need for a quite week away is right at your finger tips. Each room is Moroccan themed with private balconies attached, they also have a suite with a private sunbathing space if you want that extra bit of seclusion. There is a restaurant which is literally open around the clock - someone is always up and about to get you a glass of water, even if its in the middle of the night. The beach is conveniently close, and entire coast line links up to the Atlantic Oceans making it a surfers paradise - sadly we weren't there long enough to have a go on a board but the hotel do supply them if you want a try!
This is a gorgeous peaceful Moroccan oasis and is definitely worth the two hour trip from the airport - once you get there i promise you will never want to leave. Five stars all round. Find out more details on booking etc at www.darnajmat.com
Sallys B&B was the next pit stop on our travels. This has one
of the best views in Mirleft, situated overlooking the beach of Imin Tourga,
one of the more beautiful beaches. The house has three different terraces, one
on each level, so you can still escape and get a bit of privacy if you want.
The bedrooms are also very comfortable with all amenities that you will need.
If your a bird fan, Sally also has a parrot who is extremely comically and will
be more than happy to make conversation with you throughout the day! Every morning breakfast is served on a different terrace either in the shade or sun, intimate or sharing. Sallys house makes you feel like your at home and the mixture of Moroccan and English furniture gives it a quirky yet comfortable vibe. Sally's is situated closer to the centre of Mirlift giving you the chance to explore on foot. There aren't a great deal of places to shop, however the few outlets they do have definitely lived up to my moroccan expectations. Beautiful clay pots, ash trays, and bowls, candles and gorgeous jewellery all offered for next to nothing. The problems came when i could fit it all in my suitcase... A few things to remember before you go.. They mainly speak French so brush up before hand. The currency is Moroccan dirhams which I would recommend getting before you head off - there aren't many places to exchange once you arrive.
I am seriously looking forward to many more trips to Morocco - maybe next time I will have time to learn to surf!
Bon Voyage x
